The objective of this scheme is to support experimental work by young theatre directors. The scheme was reviewed in 1994, sponsorship of productions was suspended for the time being, and new activities taken up in its place.

One of these activities is organizing workshops for directors who have participated in the Zonal and National Theatre Festivals, introducing them to new concepts and methodologies in theatre and to trends in theatre in India and abroad.
