Viruses, Viroids, Virusoids and Prions
Earlier, we have discussed those microbes that fall into the realm of organism-theory with reasonable certainty. They are considered as organisms because they have an independent unit of integrated and interdependent structures and functions. Contrary to this, there are many such microbes whose being "organism or not" is still enigmatic. It has not yet been established whether they are living or non­living, cellular or acellular. A concise account on such "microbes" is being given here in this chapter.
