Short Service Commissioned (Engineers) Officers in Naval Architecture, Air Engineering/ Electrical and Submarine Technical Cadres

The Indian unmarried citizens are eligible Short Service Commission in the Naval Architecture, Air Engineering/ Electrical and Submarine Technical Cadres of the Indian Navy and unmarried female Indian citizens are eligible for Short Service Commission in the Naval Architecture only.

Eligibility conditions:
Age: 191/2 – 25 years as on 1st July of the year of recruitment.

Education qualification:
(a) For men: An Engineering Degree with minimum 60% marks in aggregate in (i) Tele Communication (ii) Aeronautical (iii) Avionics (iv) Instrumentations & Control (v) Electrical (vi) Electronics (vii) Mechanical (viii) Production and (ix) Navel Architecture.

(b) For Women: A four year degree in Navel Architecture with minimum 55% marks in aggregate. OR an equivalent qualification recognised by the Institute of Engineers (India) as exempt from Section ‘A’ and ‘B’ of their Associate Membership examination.

Note: Candidates appearing for the final semester examination and those awaiting results may also apply.

Physical Standards: (a) Height and Weight: Minimum height-157 cms for men and 152 for women with correlated weight.

(b) Eye Sight: 6/36, 6/36 correctable to 6/6 in each eye with glasses.

Selection Procedure: (a) Short-listed candidates are detailed for Services Selection Board (SSB) interviews at Bangalore or Bhopal followed by a medical examination. (b) The duration of SSB interview is 5 days. During their stay at the SSB, candidates are assessed in Psychological Tests, Individual Tasks, Group Tasks, Group Discussion and Interview.

Training: Candidates are inducted as officers in the rank of Sub Lieutenant and undergo Navel Orientation Course at the Navel Academy, Goa, followed by professional training at various Navel institutions. The Submarine candidates on completion of training are required to pass Submarine Qualifying Board.
