Short Service Commissioned Officers In Education Branch

The Indian Navy offers to unmarried Female Indian Citizens Short Service Commission in the Education Branch of the Indian Navy.

Eligibility Conditions: Educational Qualifications: A 1st Class Master’s degree in: (a) Mathematics (candidate should have studied Physics as subsidiary at the degree level) OR (b) Physics (candidate should have studied Physics as subsidiary at the degree level). Or (c) Chemistry (candidate should have studied Physics as subsidiary at the degree level).

Age: Candidate born between 2 July 1947 and 1 July 1978.

Physical Standards: (a) Height and Weight: Minimum height 152 cms with correlated weight. Eye Sight: 6/60, 6/60 correctable to 6/6 in each eye with glasses.

Short Service Commission: Short Service Commission is for a term of 10 years, extendable to 14 years. On completion of the term, Short Service Officers are released with gratuity.

Selection Procedure
The selection procedure is as follows:
(a) Short-listed candidates will be detailed during March to June for Services Selection Board (SSB) interview at Bangalore or Bhopal followed by a medical examination.

(b) The duration of SSB interview is 5 days. During their stay at the SSB, candidates are assessed in Psychological Tests, Individual Tasks, Group Tasks, Group Discussions and Interview. On the first day candidates undergo an Intelligence Test and Group Discussions. Only those who qualify, participate in the subsequent tests; others are sent back the same day (Return 2nd Class Sleeper rail fare is admissible for the SSB interview).

(c) Those who qualify in the interview undergo a medical examination.

(d) Candidates recommended by the SSB and declared medically fit, are appointed for training in the order of merit depending on the number of vacancies.

The Navy Offers You
(a) On entry total emoluments are approx. Rs. 13,000/ - p.m. in the rank of Sub-Lieutenant. (b) Officers are entitled to 60 days annual leave and 20 days casual leave,  Leave Travel Concession, free medical services for self and family including dependent parents, Group Insurance of Rs. 10 lakhs, canteen facilities etc.

(c) The Indian navy is a highly technical three dimensional force, capable of operating above, on and under the surface of the oceans. Perhaps no other career offers such exciting, adventurous and Hi-profile life as the Indian Navy.
