Permanent Commission in Education Branch in Indian Navy

The Indian Navy offers jobs in Education Branch (Permanent Commission) to unmarried male Indian citizens fulfilling the following criteria. Age: 21 to 25 years.

Educational Qualifications: (a) First Class B.E./ B.Tech. in Electronics/ Electrical/ Mechanical OR (b) A second class Master’s degree from a recognised University in Physics or Mathematics. Those with Master’s Degree in Physics should have studied Physics, as subsidiary subject at the graduation level.

Physical Standards: (a) Height and Weight: Minimum height-157 cms with correlated weight. (b) Eye Sight: 6/60, 6/60 correctable to 6/6, 6/12 with glasses and should not be colour/ night blind.

Selection Procedure: (a) Candidates are called for Service Selection Board interviews, based on their performance in BE/B Tech. and Master’s Degree course. If a candidate possesses higher qualification with better percentage his higher qualification is considered for cut off.

(b) Short-listed candidates are likely to be detailed during September to January for Services Selection Board (SSB) interviews at Bangalore, Bhopal or Coimbatore.

(b) The duration of SSB interview is 5 days. Consisting of Stage I (day one) and State II (4 days). Stage I consists of Intelligence Test, Picture Perception and Group Discussion tests. Those who fail at the Stage I are routed back on the same day. Stage II consists of Psychological Test, Group Tasks, and Interview. Successful candidates have to undergo special medical exam. at the same venue.

(c) Candidates recommended by the SSB and declared medically fit, are appointed for training in the order of all India merit, depending upon the number of vacancies.

Training: Training is generally scheduled for February. Candidates are inducted as officers in the rank of Sub Lieutenant and undergo Naval Orientation Course at the Naval Academy, Goa, followed by professional training at various Naval Training Establishments/ Units. Full pay and allowances are admissible to officers whilst under training. They are put on probation for a period of two years, during which they are liable to be discharged, if their performance is unsatisfactory. Only unmarried candidates are eligible to undergo training. Any candidate who is found to be married or marries while under training is discharged and is liable to refund all expenditure incurred on him by the Govt. Physical Fitness: Candidates are advised to build themselves up by physical training, sports, running/ swimming etc. so that one can meet training goals successfully.
