Computer Specialists in Navy

Opportunities are offered to unmarried male and female candidates to become Computer Specialists for a Short Service Commission in the Education Branch.

Eligibility: Unmarried female and male Indian citizens.

Educational Qualifications:
Master’s Degree with at least 50% marks in Computer Application or Computer Science or its equivalent from a recognised Indian University. Candidates should have studies either Physics or Maths at the Graduation level.

Physical Standards: (a) Height and Weight: (i) Men: Minimum height – 157 cms with co-related weight. (ii) Women: Minimum height – 148 cms with co-related weight. (b) Eye Sight: 6/36, 6/60, correctable to 6/6 in each eye with glasses.

Selection Procedure is as follows:
(a) Short-listed candidates are detailed for Services Selection Board (SSB) interview at Bangalore or Bhopal followed by a medical examination. The duration of SSB interviews is held during November.

(b) The duration of SSB interview is 4 days during their stay at the SSB, candidates are put through Psychological Tests, Individual Tasks, Group Tasks, Group Discussions and Interview. On the first day of the interview candidates undergo an Intelligence Test and only those who qualify, participate in the subsequent tests; others are sent back the same day (Return 2nd Class sleeper rail fare is admissible for the SSB interview).

(c) Those who qualify in the interview undergo medical examination.
(d) Candidates recommended by the SSB and declared medically fit, are appointed for training in the order of merit, depending on the number of vacancies.
Candidates are entered in the rank of acting Sub Lieutenants and Candidates are entered in the rank of acting Sub Lieutenants and undergo Naval Orientation Course at the Naval Academy, Goa, followed by a short course in methods and technologies of teaching and training.
