Admission to 3-year course leading to a B.Sc. (Nautical Science) Degree at T.S. Chanakya, Navi Mumbai and 4-year Marine Engineering Degree Course at Marine Engineering and Research Institute (MERI) Kolkata and 3-year Polyvalent B.Sc Maritime Sciences degree at Marine Engineering and Research Institute (MERI) Mumbai:

Selection for admission to the above-mentioned courses is made through Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) conducted by IITs during April. Those interested to seek admission to TSC/MERI have to submit JEE form as per instructions given in the advertisement released by IIT every year.

Last Date of receipt of Applications: December.
Commencement of sale of application forms by D. G. Shipping: January.
Last Date of receipt of Applications by D.G. Shipping: March

However, this is subject to the change by the authorities. The number of seats in all the courses vary each year as for each institution the number is fixed as per projected employment opportunities.

After applying to IIT for appearing in JEE the candidates are required to submit a separate application to the Directorate General of Shipping for admission to the above institutes.

Pattern for JEE: The entrance examination consists of two papers, each of 3 hours duration. Paper I and Paper II each have three separate section on Physics, Chemistry and Mathemetics. Both Papers consist of Objective type questions, designated to test comprehension and analytical ability of candidates.

The Screening Test consists of objective type questions which are to be answered on the specially designed machine-gradable sheet using HB pencils only. The Main Examination will have conventional questions to be answered in the answer-book supplied.

Language of the Question papers: Question paper is in English and Hindi.
