is a premier Law School of India University in the country. It offers legal education in multi-disciplinary context at Undergraduate and Postgraduate level. It is a residential University and provides hostel facilities for boys and girls. The University offers the following courses in Law:
5-year Integrated B.A.LL.B.(Hons.) Degree Programme to prepare students for the Bar and varied careers in Law.

Eligibility: 10+2 examination or equivalent with not less than 50% marks. Students taking qualifying exam. in March/ April are also eligible to apply.
Seats: 80 with reservation of 15% for SC and 7.5% for ST candidates.
Age Limit: Below 20 years as on 1st July of the year of admission. 22 years in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST categories.
Selection is based purely on merit on the performance at the All India Admission Test which is held during May at Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Kochi and Kolkata. Test papers of the previous year are also made available on payment of requisite charges. All admissions are completed before 30th June and classes begin on July 1.

2-year LL.M. Postgraduate degree programme (4 semesters):
Eligibility
: Minimum qualification is 50% aggregate in BL/LLB. B.A, LL.B. (Hons) examination. Candidates appearing for final examination are also eligible to apply. A few merit-cum-means scholarships and Teaching Assistantships are available in deserving cases. Reservation of 15% for SC and 7.5% for ST candidates.
How to apply: Application and information brochure can be had from the Registrar, during March, on payment of requisite charges by bank draft payable to the NLSIU at Bangalore. Last date: March.The University also offers:
Doctor of Jurisprudential Sciences (JSD). This programme is particularly suited for those aspiring for teaching research career in Legal studies in the context of its social and developmental relevance. Eligibility: LLM Degree with 55% aggregate marks or its equivalent

1-year M.Phil. Eligibility: LLM securing 50% marks or its equivalent.
LL.D. Eligibility: Ph.D. in Law or equivalent degree from any other University.
Ph.D. (Law). Eligibility: LLM Degree with a minimum 50% or its equivalent.
Ph.D. (Interdisciplinary). Eligibility: Master's degree in a field relevant to the field of research for the Ph.D. or C.A. or ACS with a Bachelor's Degree in Law.
Distance Education Programmes:
(1) 2- year Master's degree in Business Law (MBL) degree. Eligibility:A Bachelor degree.

(2) One-year P.G. Diplomas in (a) Human Rights Law (PGDHRL) or (b) Medical Law and Ethics (PGDMLE) or (c) Environmental Law, and (d) Intellectual Property Law. Eligibility: Law or Non-Law Graduates can apply.

NLSIU also undertakes specialized research in a number of areas including Child and the law gender, refugee law, Human rights, environmental Law, alternative dispute resolution and commercial arbitration.
