How to become an advocate
We give below important information including the prescribed procedure for enrolment of advocates, training and practising law* which may prove useful to anyone desiring to become an advocate and practise law as a profession.

Merely obtaining a law degree, i.e. LLB. would not entitle one to practise law as an advocate. The legal profession in India is regulated by the Advocates Act,1961 which in turn provides for the creation of Bar Council of India and State Bar Councils. Therefore, to enter the profession as a practising lawyer, one has to enrol himself/herself as an advocate in any State Bar Council.
