Hahnium
Ha or Hn A name formerly suggested for element- 105 (dubnium) and also for element-108 (hassium).

Hammer mills
devices which are used in the chemical industry for crushing nd grinding solid materials at high speeds to a specified size. The impact between the particles, grinding plates, and grinding hammers pulverizes the particles. Hammer mills can be used for a greater variety of soft material than other types of grinding equipment.

Holmium
A soft malleable silvery element of the lanthanoid series of metals. It occurs in association with other lanthanoid. It has few applications.
Symbols: Ho; m.p. 14740C; b.p. 26950C; r.d. 8.80; p.n. 67; r.a.m. 164.93.

Heat of neutralisation
Amount of heat evolved when one gram-equivalent of an acid is neutralized by a base.

Heat of solution

The amount of energy change when one mole of a substance is dissolved in a given solvent to infinite-dilution (in practice to form a dilute solution).

Heat of vaporisation

The quantity of heat required to vaporize a unit mass of a given liquid at constant temperature.

Heavy hydrogen

It is deuterium.

Heavy water(deuterium oxide)
Water in which hydrogen atoms, 1H, are replaced by the heavier isotope deuterium, 2H. It is a colourless liquid, which forms hexagonal crystals on freezing. Its physical properties differ from those of ‘normal’ water; r.d. 1.105; m.p. 380C; b p 101.40C.

Helium

It is a colour less monoatomic gas. It is the first member of the noble gases (group  of the periodic table).
Helium is having the electronic configuration Is2 and consists of a nucleus of two protons and two neutrons (equivalent toAn a-particle) with two extra nuclear electrons. It has an extremely high ionization potential and is completely resistant to chemical attack of any sort

Heterocyclic compound
A compound that has a ring containing more than one type of atom. Commonly, hetero cyclic compounds are organic compounds with at least one atom in the ring that is not a carbon atom. Pyridine and glucose are examples. The non-carbon atom is called a hetero atom.]

Heterotopes
Atoms of different atomic number and therefore, having different positions in the periodic system.

Heusler alloys
Ferromagnetic alloys containing no ferromagnetic elements. The original alloys contained copper, manganese, and tin and were first made by Conrad Heusler (19th – century mining engineer).

Hexagonal system
The unit cell of this system has equal sides with a third side of different length. It has two equal angles of 900C; the third angle, between the two equal dies is 1200C. The system has one six-fold axis of symmetry.
Hg(SCN)2
Poisonous white powder; soluble in alcohol, slightly soluble in water; decomposes when heated; used in photography. Also known as mercuric sulphocyanide; mercury sulphocyanate; mercury thiocyanate.

Ho
Holmium member of lanthanide series. At. No.67.
