Chemical Fertilizers
As mentioned earlier, chemical fertilizers can not be entirely dispensed with and will still be needed in sufficient quantities as a component of INM, if crop productivity as a component of INM, if crop productivity under intensive cropping is to be maintained. However, split application of chemical fertilizers is recommended on the basis of nutrient status of the soil (soil tests). Along with N:P:K., need based application of secondary nutrients and micronutrients is also recommended for correcting multiple nutrient deficiencies. Acid soils may also need to be amended with lime to improve use efficiency of the soil.
