Y chromosome
One of the two sex chromosomes, X and Y.

A sex chromosome in organisms (such as mammals) in which males are heterogametic (XY). See also: X chromosome, sex chromosome.

Young Earth creationism
The belief that the universe came into being only a few thousand years ago. Most young Earth creationists interpret the Bible literally, including not just the special, separate creation of human beings and all other species, but the historicity of Noah’s flood.

Y junction
The point at which a DNA molecule is being replicated; the two template strands separate, forming the arms, and the unreplicated double-stranded DNA forms the base of the Y.

Yeast artificial chromosome (YAC)
Constructed from yeast DNA, it is a vector used to clone large DNA fragments.
