Unequal crossing over
Recombination that occurs between two homologues that are improperly aligned.

Exchange of DNA is unequal, such that one homologue winds up with three copies of a region of the chromosome, while the other homologue has only one.
A crossing over in which the two chromosomes do not exchange equal lengths of DNA; one receives more than the other.

Unique DNA

DNA sequences that exist in only one copy per haploid genome.

Ultrasound
The use of sound waves to visualize soft tissue organs and fetuses (also known as sonogram).

Ultrasonography

The use of high frequency sound waves to examine internal body structures, such as a fetus contained in the uterus. An ultrasound examination is also known as a sonogram.

Uracil
A nitrogenous base normally found in RNA but not DNA; uracil is capable of forming a base pair with adenine.
