Thiagarajan, Sivasailam
The president of Workshops by Thiagi, Inc. his organization helps people improve their performance through games and simulations.

Three point cross

A series of crosses designed to determine the order of three, nonallelic, linked genes upon a single chromosome on the basis of their crossover behavior.

AThymine (T)
A nitrogenous base, one member of the base pair AT (adenine thymine).

Thymine dimer
A DNA lesion caused by the formation of covalent bonds between adjacent thymines, usually as a result of exposure to ultraviolet radiation.

Topoisomerase
An enzyme that can unwind the supercoiling of a DNA helix.

Totipotent

When a cell retains the ability to direct the development of an entire adult organism.

Trait
A detectable phenotypic variation of an inherited characteristic.

Transcription unit
A segment of DNA that contains transcription initiation and termination sites, and is transcribed into a single RNA molecule.

Transcriptome
The full complement of activated genes, mRNAs, or transcripts in a particular tissue at a particular time.

Toxicogenomics
The study of how genomes respond to environmental stressors or toxicants. Combines genome wide mRNA expression profiling with protein expression patterns using bioinformatics to understand the role of gene environment interactions in disease and dysfunction.

Trans configuration
The situation in which the mutant allele of one gene and the wildtype allele of another gene are located on the same homologue; the two mutant alleles of the two different genes are located on different chromosomes of a homologus pair.

Transcription
The synthesis of an RNA copy from a sequence of DNA (a gene); the first step in gene expression.
2. The synthesis of an RNA molecule from a DNA template.
3. The process by which messenger RNA is read from the DNA forming a gene.
4. The formation of an RNA molecule upon a DNA template by complementary base pairing; mediated by RNA polymerase.

Transcription factor
A protein that binds to regulatory regions and helps control gene expression.
2. A protein that regulates the transcription of genes in eukaryotes.

Transduction
Transfer of genetic material between bacteria, with bacteriophage acting as an intermediary.
2. The transfer of bacterial genetic material from one bacterium to another using a phage as a vector.
