Huxley, Thomas Henry
British intellect, photographer, and contemporary of Darwin. He was the first to apply the theory of natural selection to humanity to explain the course of human evolution.

Hybrid
The offspring of genetically different parents.
A heterozygote; an offspring from genetically dissimilar parents, even different species.

Hybridization
The process of joining two complementary strands of DNA or one each of DNA and RNA to form a double-stranded molecule.

Hydrocephalus
A condition that is caused by the build up of fluid inside the developing brain due to the partial blockage of the normal flow of spinal fluid out of the brain.

Hydrogen bond
Weak interaction between an electronegative atom and a hydrogen atom covalently bonded to a strongly electronegative atom such as oxygen or nitrogen.
2. The weak electrostatic attraction that exists between a hydrogen atom that is covalently bonded to an 0 or N atom and an atom containing an unshared electron pair.

Hypospadius

A defect of the underside (ventral) port on of the penis where the urethra canal is open in places.

Hypothesis
An explanation of one or more phenomena in nature that can be tested by observations, experiments, or both. In order to be considered scientific, a hypothesis must be falsifiable, which means that it can be proven to be incorrect.
