F+ Cell
A bacterial cell possessing the fertility factor. Acts as a donor in conjugation.
2. A bacterial cell possessing a fertility factor in a plasmid; this cell act as a donor during conjugation.

F- cell
A bacterial cell that does not contain a fertility factor. Acts as a recipient in conjugation
2. A bacterial cell devoid of an F factor and that therefore can act only as a recipient during conjugation

F' cell
A bacterial cell in which an integrated fertility factor spontaneously excises itself, taking part of the chromosome with it. The resulting episome therefore contains chromosomal material.

F factor
An episome in bacterial cells that confers the ability to act as a genetic donor during conjugation

F1 generation
The first filial generation; the first generation of offspring from a given mating.

F2generation

The second filial generation; the progeny of a cross of the Fl generation.
