Description of Admission Test

(i) Bachelor of Fashion Technology (Fashion Design / Leather Design / Accessory Design / Textile Design / Knitwear Design / Communication Design)

The candidates applying for this programme are administered with General Ability Test (GAT) and Creative Ability Test (CAT) for the written entrance examination.

General Ability Test (GAT): This test comprises of various sub-tests as follows: Quantitative Ability, Communication Ability, English Comprehension, Analytical Ability, Business Domain Test

1) Quantitative Ability. This sub-test is designed to test the quantitative ability of the candidates. The sub test consists of questions on Addition, Multiplication, Division, Fractions, Percentage, Rate of Interest, Work and Task, Ratio and Proportion, Distance, Profit & Loss, Algebra and Geometry, etc. of the level of matriculation.

2) Communication Ability. This sub-test is aimed at testing the language ability of the candidates in day to day communication in English. It includes questions on synonyms, antonyms, words with corresponding meanings, singular, plural, one word substitutes, idioms and phrases, correct spellings, etc.

3) English Comprehension: This sub-test is to test one's ability to comprehend a situation from a given passage.

4) Analytical Ability. This sub-test is designed to test the candidate's inference and logic from the given information.

5) Business Domain Test This sub-test is aimed to evaluate the candidate's knowledge and awareness about the Fashion Industry, Designers, knowledge in the field of Art & Culture.

Creative Ability Test (CAT): This testis administered to judge the skill, power of observation, innovation and design ability of the candidate. An important aspect of the test is the candidate's usage of colour and illustration.
Situation Test

Situation Test
Shortlisted candidates from the written entrance examination are required to undergo a Situation Test which is a hands-on test to evaluate the candidate's skills for material handling and innovative ability on a given situation with a given set of materials.

(ii) Bachelor of Fashion Technology (Apparel Production) The candidates applying for this programme are administered with General Ability Test (GAT) and Managerial Ability Test (MAT) for the written entrance examination.
General Ability Test (GAT): This test comprises of various sub-tests as given below: Quantitative Ability, Communication Ability, English Comprehension, Analytical Ability, General Knowledge and Current Affairs

1) Quantitative Ability. This sub-test is designed to test the quantitative ability of the candidates. The sub-test consists of questions on Differential Calculus, Integral Calculus, Differential Equations, Probability and Statistics, and Fundamentals of Computer Applications.

2) Communication Ability. This sub-test is aimed at testing the language ability of the candidates in day to day communication in English. It includes questions on synonyms, antonyms, words with corresponding meanings, singular, plural, one word substitutes, idioms and phrases, correct spellings, etc.

3) English Comprehension: This sub-test is aimed to test one's ability to comprehend a situation from a given passage.

4) Analytical Ability. This sub-test is designed to test the candidate's inference and logic from the given information.

5) General Knowledge and Current Affairs: This sub-test is designed to test the candidates general knowledge and current affairs.

 Managerial Aptitude Test (MAT): It is a test to judge the managerial effectiveness and interpersonal skills of the candidates. This test comprises of various sub tests as Case Study, Business Domain Test, Logical Ability

1) Case Study: This sub-test is based on a situation of an industry environment. It helps to evaluate the candidate's managerial ability.

2) Business Domain Test: This sub-test is to judge the knowledge of a candidate on fundamentals of textiles, apparel industry, import and export sectors, WTO issues related to textiles, apparel brands, etc.

3) Logical Ability: This sub-test is aimed to evaluate the candidate's ability to identify the logic or reason involved in a particular problem given and applying the logic in solving the problem. Concepts and practice of creative and lateral thinking are likely to be useful.

(iii) Master of Fashion Technology (Management) The candidates applying for this programme are administered with General Ability Test (GAT) and Managerial Ability Test (MAT) for the written entrance examination.
