Common Entrance Examination
A Common Entrance Examination (CEE) is conducted at State level for admission to B.Sc. (D.Sc. and Tech)/B.Arch./B.Tech. (Ag. Engg.) degree courses in the following Engineering Colleges.
Model Engineering College, Ernakulam, Autonomous Engineering Colleges (for Admission to Free/payment seats) at Chengannur (under IHRDE) Adoor (IHRDE), Kasargod (under LBS Centre), Valanchery (under MES), Thodupuzha (under MGU), Pappanamcode (under KSRTC), B. Tech. (Agricultural Engineering) and B.Sc. (Dairy Science and Technology) courses under the Kerala Agricultural University and' B.Tech courses in the Regional Engineering College in the country, including, REC, Calicut.

2. Reservation of Seats: 15 per cent of the seats in private Engineering colleges are filled up by the Management of the colleges concerned. Nominees of the Government of India 67 seats, Repatriates from Myanmmar (Burma) 2 seats (Civil/Mechanical), Repatriates from Sri Lanka 2 seats (Electrical/Mechanical) Children of Ex-servicemen of the State 6 seats (two seats, each in Civil/ Electrical/Mechanical), Children of dependents of serving defence personnel from the State 10 seats (three seats in each branch in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical and one seat in Electronics and Communication), Athletes/sportsmen nominated by the Kerala Sports Council 1 seat each in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical and Electronics and Communication, Physically handicapped 1 seat each in Civil, Electrical and Mechanical

The remaining seats will be filled up as follows: 50 per cent on merit on a Statewise basis, 15 per cent of seats will be allocated between the Malabar area and the Travancore-Cochin area in the ratio of 5:8. Remaining 35 per cent, Muslims 8 per cent, Latin Catholics (other than Anglo-Indians) 2 per cent, Backward Christians 1 per cent, Backward Hindus 5 per cent, Scheduled Castes 8 per cent, Scheduled Tribes 2 per cent

3. Minimum Qualification: A pass in the Pre-Degree Exam of the Kerala/Calicut University or an equivalent exam with 50 per cent marks in Maths and 50 per cent in aggregate of Maths, Physics and Chemistry (45 per cent in the case of Socially and Educationally backward classes), for SC/ST candidate only pass marks is required OR 50% marks in final Diploma examination of the 3-year Diploma in Engineering (Pass for SC/ST, 45% for SEBC). However, admission to the diploma holders will be restricted to the Engineering colleges under the Kerala University only.

4. Age Limit: Candidates must have completed the age of 17 years on December 31 of the year of admission.

5. Domicile Restrictions: The candidate must be an Indian citizen and should have studied in educational institution(s) in Kerala:, for at least five years within a total period of 12 years before the completion of Qualifying Examination (Pre-degree or equivalent Examination) or the candidate's father/mother should have born in­5 years within period of 12 years. OR Non-Keralite candidates who have undergone the Qualifying course in Kerala, and who are sons/ daughters of the following categories of non-Keralite parents: Employees of the Government of India, or Defence Personnel posted in Kerala, or, Employee who are serving in connection with the affairs of the Government of Kerala. Subject to the condition that the employee concerned has served in Kerala for a minimum period of 2 years, or, has served in connection with affairs of the Government of Kerala for a minimum period of 2 years.

6. Selection:
Selection to all seats in Government institutions and 85 per cent in private colleges is made by the Selection Committee on the basis of marks obtained in the entrance exam in Physics, Chemistry and Maths.

The test is of Objective Type and is according to the syllabus of Pre-degree exam. Candidates who apply for admission to Degree course in Architecture in the State Engineering Colleges will have to appear for an Aptitude Test over and above the test.

7. How to Apply: Application Form and Prospectus are available in the month of March from the Institutions specified in Admission Notification on cash payment of requisite amount. Candidates seeking admission to Architecture Course should pay an additional amount of requisite amount by way of Demand Draft obtained from SBI/SBT in favour of Controller of Entrance Examinations, payable at Thiruvananthapuram. Those desirous of getting the Application Form by post should send the requisite fee by MO to the Heads of the Institutions of the Sale Centre concerned clearly mentioning the course.
