CBSC All India Engineering Entrance Exam (AIEEE)
CBSE conducts an All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) for admissions to Engineering, Architecture and Pharmacy programmes offered in the following deemed Universities, Central Institutions and Institutions' in the States/UTs:

2. Minimum Qualifications: (i) For admission to Engineering Degree Programmes
The minimum academic qualification for admission through AIEEE is a pass in the final examination of 10+2 (Class XII) or its equivalent referred to as the qualifying examination. Those appearing in 10+2 (Class XII) final or equivalent examination may also appear in AIEEE for consideration of provisional admission.

This is as per decision of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

3. Age: Upper age limit is 25 years as on the first day of October of the year of Examination. The upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST/PH candidates.

4. How to Apply:
Information Bulletin containing the Application Form and other details are available Dec./Jan. It can be had against cash payment of requisite amount from the selected branches of Designated Banks. The last date for receipt of completed Application Form in the CBSE office by Registered/Speed Post is normally in the second week of Feb.

5. Selection:
The eligible candidates are required to appear, in the written examination.

6. Date of Examination: The written examination is held normally in the last week of April.
Information Bulletin containing Application Form can be had by post from the Joint Secretary (AIEEE), Central Board of Secondary Education, 17, Rouse Avenue, Institutional Area, (Near Bal Bhawan), New Delhi-110002 or personally from Regional Offices of CBSE and Designated Banks.

THAPAR Institute of Engineering and Technology

Duration: 4 years.
Reservation of Seats: SC/ST-25 per cent, Backward'Classes-5 per cent, Sportsmen-2 per cent, Children of employees of Thapar group oflndustries-5 percent Children of employees of the Institute­ 2 per cent, Government of India nominees (foreigners as well as candidates from other States/UTs lacking such facilities and children of Indian officials working abroad)-9 seats, 2-seats each in Civil, Electrical and Mechanical are reserved for diploma holders from the State Board of Technical Education (Punjab), Chandigarh, Candidates sponsored by the Punjab Government-2 per cent. Of the remaining seats 90 per cent for those who have passed the qualifying exam from Punjab University, Punjabi University, Guru Nanak Dev University, and 10 per cent for candidates who have passed the qualifying exam from other Universities.
Method of Selection: Selection is based on the AIEEE conducted by CBSE and interview held for the purpose.

(ii) Birla Institute of Technology

Status: Deemed University
The Entrance Examination for admission to B.Sc. (Engg.) course of the Birla Institute of Technology, Ranchi is held every year generally in the month of May.
Course: 4-year B.E. Degree Courses:

Age Limit: Minimum 17 years and maximum 21 years. Upper age limits relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST candidates on October 1 of the year of examination.
Method of Selection: Admission is made through AIEEE conducted by CBSE and interview held for the purpose in the last week of May of the year of admission.

(iii) Chandigarh Engineering College

Course: B.E.
Branches: Aeronautical (15 seats), Civil, Electrical, Electronics
& Electrical Communication, Mechanical (60 seats each), Metallurgical (20 seats), Production, Computer Science & Engg.(30 seats each).
Management: Government.
Domicile: 60 per cent of Chandigarh. Remaining on all India basis;
Eligibility: Passed/appeared in 10+2 exam. with Physics, Chemistry and Maths.
Application Procedure: Prospectus containing application form and other necessary details for CET can be had by registered post on­ payment of requisite amount by bank draft in favour of the Principal, Panjab Engineering College, Chandigarh or by paying a requisite amount in cash at the counter in the month of March/April.
Selection: The admission is made on the basis of All-India Entrance Exam conducted by CBSE.

(iv) Chandigarh College of Architecture

Course: B.Arch.
Duration: 5 years.
Branch: Architecture (40 seats).
Management: Government.
Reservation of Seats: Chandigarh based SC-2 seats; SC (bona fide residents of Indian Union)-2 seats; ST (bona fide residents of Indian Union)-1 seat; Chandigarh based ST-1 seat; Nominees of Government of India (foreign students and others)-5 seats; Candidates passing the qualifying exam from the institution located in the Union Territory-11 seats; Dependents of military personnel­1 seat; Handicapped candidates-1 seat. Nominees of States/UTs deficient in technical education facilities-5 seats; Open merit-26 seats.
Minimum Qualification: A candidate must have passed the 10th class examination under the 10+2 system/B.Sc. Part II Pre­Engineering or any other examination recognised by the Panjab University as equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Maths and English as compulsory subjects with at least 55 per cent marks in the aggregate.
Age Limit: No age limit is mentioned
Application Procedure: A copy of Prospectus/Information
Brochure containing Rules, Syllabus, General Information and application form for PAT may be had during the month of March on payment of the requisite amount at the Counter from the Cashier, Panjab University, Chandigarh or by post from the Secretary,
Publication Bureau, Panjab University, Chandigarh on payment of the requisite amount by MO or IPO in favour of the Registrar, Panjab University, Chandigarh.
Selection: The admission to the B.Arch. Degree course shall be made on the basis of AIEEE conducted by CBSE, provided the candidates are otherwise eligible and possess the essential qualifications required for admission purpose.

(v) VELLORE Institute of Technology
Katpadi-Tiruvalam Road, Vellore-632007
(Status: Tamil Nadu University)
Courses: B.E. and B.Tech.
Duration: 4 years.
Branches: Civil, Mechanical, Electronics and Communication, Computer Science (60 seats each), Electrical & Electronics, Chemical Engineering.
Management: Private (Trust).
Method of Selection: 50 per cent seats are filled by Director, Technical Education, Chennai and the remaining 50 per cent seats are filled by the management on the basis of written exam AIEEE conducted by CBSE.
Application Procedure: Application form, brochure and other necessary information can be had by sending a crossed Demand Draft for requisite charges in favour of Vellore Institute of Technology, payable at Vellore.
Notification: Feb.
Last Date: March.

For admission to second year (only for B. Tech in Computer Science & Engg. Courses): Three year Diploma in Computer Engineering or Electronics Engineering of the. Board of Technical Education of Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal or of other recognised Board or University in Indian Union with at least 60% (55% for
SC/ST) aggregate marks.
Age Limit (For first year admission): Between 17 years and 20 years as on 30 Sept. of the year of-exam.
Selection Procedure: The admission is made through the entrance exam. AIEEE conducted by CBSE.
