I. Indian Institutes of Technology
Admission to the following courses is made through Joint Entrance Examination (JEE),Last date for receipt of the completed JEE application is September. The JEE Screening Test held in the month of January and the Main Examination in the month of May. The results of Screening Test and Main Examination declared in the month of January and May respectively.
2. Minimum Qualifications: A candidate for the Joint Entrance Examination must have passed the final examination of 10+2 system (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Candidates who are appearing in the final 10+2 examination by July 15 and expecting to pass the same before September 30 can also appear in the entrance examination.

However, proof of having passed the above mentioned examination must be produced by September 30. For admission to 5th years integrated M. Tech course in Biotechnology, candidate must have had Biology/Life Science in addition to Physics, Chemistry and Maths at 10+2 level.
3. Age: A candidate must be between 16 to 21 years of age on the first day of the October of the year of examination. The upper age limit relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST candidates.

4. Reservation of Seats: At each institute: (i) 15% and 7.5% seats for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes candidates respectively; (ii) 2 seats for children of defence/para-military forces personnel killed or permanently disabled in action. Any of these reserved seats remaining vacant are made available to other qualified candidates in the general category. (iii) one seat for physically handicapped candidates provided they qualify in the JEE and are fit to pursue the course.
5. Domicile Restrictions: Nil.

6. How to Apply: Application forms and information brochures can be had in the month of July from JEE Office of any IIT, by ordinary post, on sending a demand draft for the cost of application material drawn on any nationalised bank in favour of the Chairman, JEE (IIT Bombay, Mumbai-400 076 : IIT Delhi, New Delhi-110 016 : IIT Guwahati, Guwahati-781 039 : IIT Kanpur-208 016 : IITKharagpur, Kharagpur 721302: IIT Madras, Chennai - 600 036) payable at that city along with two self-addressed slips containing the candidate's complete postal address including Pin Code. The envelope containing the bank draft/postal order and address slips must be clearly marked with the JEE (year) Application Form.

7. Selection: The eligible candidates are required to appear at a Preliminary Exam., the Screening Test, held in the month of January. The Screening Test comprises of Objective- Type Questions in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and the duration of the test shall be 3 hours.
Only those candidates, who qualify the Screening Test, shall be eligible to appear in the-Main Examination. which is held in the
Month of Mayas per the following pattern :

Note: (a) Screening Test will contain 35 Objective-Type Questions including Multiple-Choice, Reasoning and Assertions, Matching-Type on each of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
(b) The Main Papers in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics will contain Descriptive Type Questions.
