Reservation of Seats: 70 per cent seats in the Base Module are reserved for the candidates of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura as States quota, i.e., 10 per cent to each above mentioned North Eastern States. An open competition is held on all India basis (including North East students) for filling up the rest 30 per cent seats. Merit in the competition is the criteria for selection.

3. Assam
Admission to Engg. Colleges in Assam, viz., (i) Assam Engg. College, Guwahati, (ii) Jorhat Engg. College, Jorhat and for the Assam quota seats in (iii) Regional Engg. College, Silchar is regulated through a Joint Admission Test (JAT). Admission for the reserved seats allotted by Government of India in degree courses outside Assam is also made through JAT but the candidates seeking admissions for these seats should also apply to the Director of Technical Education Assam, Guwahati, separately in accordance with the notification.

Note: (1) Students who get the first ten positions in Higher Secondary Exam. of Assam Hr. Secondary Education Council, Assam provided they have secured 75%mfWksinaggregate. (2) candidates who are nominated for the reserved seats and (3) the foreign students are exempted from appearing in JAT.
(i) JAT comprises of questions in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry of the standard of the qualifying exam.
(ii) Aptitude Test has been prescribed for the candidates applying for admission to B.Arch.
Admission is offered to candidates who are permanent residents of Assam, Government of India nominees/State nominees/Children of Central Government/Public Sector Undertaking employees posted in Assam and in service in Assam for one year are considered as exceptions.

2. Eligibility: Higher Secondary Exam. (12years) from Assam Higher Secondary Education Council or an equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English securing at least 50 per cent marks in aggregate in PCM in one sitting. 5 per Cent relaxation in marks is given to the candidates belonging to SC and 10 per cent to the ST categories. Physical and Mental fitness of the candidate is required.
3. Age: Between 17 to 21 years. SC/ST categories and those having a B.Sc. degree: 22 to 24 years.

4. Reservation: Percentage of Reservation for the following categories is mentioned against each:
Scheduled Caste-7 per cent; Scheduled Tribe-15 per cent (10 per cent for Plains & 5% for Hills); OBC (including MOBC)-15 per cent; Sons and daughters ofEx-servicemen-2 seats; Grandsons/ grand-daughters of freedom fighters-2 seats; Physically handicapped-2 seats; .-Tea Garden Community-2 seats; Ex-Tea Garden Labour Community-2 seats; N.C.C.-2 seats; Sports persons-2 seats; Sons/daughters of Central Govt./Public Sector employees posted in Assam and in service for 1 yr.-7 seats.
Reservation also exists for the GOI nominees/State nominees Sikkim, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram as per rules.
