Calicut Regional Engineering College

Branch and Seat: Computer (50 seats). Duration: 4 years.
Reservation of Seats: SC/ST -10 per cent for Kerala quota and 20 per cent for other States, Backward Classes-25 per cent for Kerala quota. Children of Para-military forces killed/disabled in wars/hostilities-l seat, NCC-1 seat, Sports-2 seats, Govt. of India nominees-12 seats.
Minimum Qualification: A pass in the Pre-degree Examination of Calicut University or an equivalent exam recognised by Calicut University securing not less than 50 per cent marks in Maths, Physics and Chemistry put together and at least 50 per cent marks in Maths. Pass marks in English is compulsory. For SC / ST, only minimum pass marks need to be secured in the qualifying exam.
Age Limit: No age limit is mentioned.

Application Procedure: Application form for admission to the College against seats allotted to the State can be obtained within two weeks from the date of publication of Pre- Degree exam result of Kerala/ Calicut University .Candidates from Kerala, Lakshadweep, Kaindive. Islands seeking admission in REC, Calicut or other RECs may apply to the college.

N.B.: Candidates seeking admission to this college and other Regional Engineering Colleges should apply in separate forms. Copies of application forms and information bulletin can be obtained from the Assistant Registrar of the College on payment of requisite amount in cash or on requisition accompanied by a self-addressed unstamped envelope of 28 x 15 cm and a crossed IPO of a requisite amount drawn in favour of the Registrar of the College, Cheques. MO are not accepted.

Method of Selection: On the basis of merit. Other things being equal, preference will be given to children of Defence personnel, killed or disabled.

4. Regional Engineering College

Course: B.E.
Branch and Seats: Computer Science and Engg. (30 seats).
Duration: 4 years.
Reservation of Seats: Certain seats are reserved for SC/ST. Government of India nominees; Physically Handicapped candidates of the States; Sons/Wards of Para-Military forces who have become permanently disabled or who have been killed during war /hostility.

Minimum Qualification: A pass in the 10+2 Higher Secondary Examination of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education with Physics, Chemistry, Maths and English or an equivalent examination. .
Age Limit: Not over 23 years as on August 1 of the year of admission (relaxation by 3 years for SC/ST candidates).
Application Procedure: Candidates from Bengal seeking admission to the seats allocated for such candidates in REC Durgapur and in 16 other RECs are not required to submit any application form until they have been selected for admission through JEE.

Regional Engineering College, Durgapur will select the candidates from West Bengal and Andaman and Nicobar Islands for admission to the seats to allocated for such candidates if any, in all the 17 Regional Engineering Colleges.

Candidates selected for admission to Regional Engineering
College, Durgapur or to the other 16 Regional Engineering Colleges in India will be issued, at the time of their selection, an offer of admission and an Application Form free of charge. All such candidates will be required to report at Regional Engineering College, Durgapur, on the date and time specified in the offer of admission, for submission of the Application Form duly completed in all respects, verification of all original documents, medical examination by the College Medical Officer on payment of fees and for completion of admission.

Method of Selection: On the basis of merit in the Joint Entrance Examination conducted by the West Bengal Board of Examination for Admission to Engineering Degree Colleges in thesubjects as detailed below:

 

Paper I Mathematics 3 hours 200 Marks
Paper II Physics 3 hours 100 Marks
Paper III Chemistry 3 hours 100 Marks

The Entrance Examination is held on two days usually in the 3rd week of May of the year of admission at various centres in West Bengal and New Delhi.
