SWITZERLAND

HOTEL INSTITUTE MONTREUX
Hotel Institute Montreux (HIM) is one of Switzerland's most prestigious hospitality- schools. It exemplifies the classic Swiss hotel training tradition in the heart of the Montreux city, which is famous for hospitality and tourism. HIM is a model teaching institution, as it is committed to continuous development of its curriculum and teaching methods in response to industry needs. It thus enables its graduates to enter the hospitality field with the skills required a modern manager. HIM offers a dual path to a successful career.

First, its diploma guarantees the exacting standards of Swiss hospitality. Second, the diploma of the American Hotel and Motel Association adds to the value of the latest hospitality management techniques, as practised by international hospitality chains. Programmes Offered: A Programme (for high school graduates) consists of three academic terms, two mandatory and on elective internship.


AA Programme (for high school graduates with two years of hotel industry experience) consists of two academic terms, one mandatory internship and one elective internship.

Course Structure: Each year of study is composed or a five ­month academic term, conducted at the school, and a five-month internship term. One of each programme’s internship is spent on assignments in Swiss hotels or restaurants, while other(s) may be spent outside Switzerland.

Internship: Internship is an integral part of the HIM programmes. By law, Swiss employers are required to remunerate students at prevailing industry trainee rates.

Admission Guidelines: The institute admit applicants who have a genuine desire for practical career preparation as well as the ability to achieve academic goals. Academic qualifications and motivation for success are key factors in determining admissions. Admission requirements vary according to programme.
