Section Officers Commercial Exam.

A competitive examination for the recruitment of Section Officer (Commercial) in the offices of the Comptroller and Auditor General Group 'B' Non-Gazetted Posts is held by the Staff Selection Commission, generally in the month of July every year.

2. Age: A candidate must have attained the age of 18 years and must not have attained the age of 27 years on the 1st August of the year of examination. The upper age limit is relaxable for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Castes, Ex­-Servicemen and certain other categories.

3. Educational Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Commerce of a recognised University/CA/ICWNCS.

4. Plan of the Examination: The competitive exam. for the recruitment of Section Officer (Commercial) consists of two papers:

N.B. (i) The question papers in all the subjects of Paper I will consist of objective type only and will be set in English and Hindi.
(ii) Paper II will be evaluated in respect of only those who qualify in Paper 1.
(iii) The interview will carry a maximum of 100 marks.

5. Syllabus
Paper-I (Objective Type)
(a) General Awareness: Questions in this component aim at testing your general awareness of the environment around you and its application to the society. Questions are also designed to test your knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their  scientific aspect as may be expected of any educated person.

The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighbouring countries, especially pertaining to History, Culture, Geography, Economic Seene, General Polity, Scientific Research, etc. These questions do not require a special study of any discipline.

b) Arithmetical Ability: This part includes questions on problems relating to number systems, computation of whole numbers, decimals and fractions and relationships between numbers, fundamental arithmetical operations, percentage, ratio and proportion, average, interest, profit & loss, discount, use of tables and graphs, mensuration, time & distance, ratio and time, etc.

(c) English: Questions in this component are designed to test your understanding and knowledge of English Language, vocabulary, spellings, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms, sentence completion, phrases and idiomatic use of words, etc. There is a question on comprehension of a passage also.

Paper-II (Conventional)
Commerce: This Paper covers all the subjects of\commerce commonly taught in the Degree Courses of Indian Universities, namely, Accountancy, Business, Economics, Taxation, Company Law, Auditing, Business Communication, Mathematical Ability, International Trade, Marketing & Advertising, Business Management, Business Organisation, Banking, Insurance, Partnership, Mercantile Law, Investments, Shares/Debentures, etc.

6. Initial Pay: About Rs. 8000 in the scale of Rs. 5500-9000.
