Scholarships
Dr. Ambedkar Overseas fellowships for Post-graduate Study
Level: Post-graduate, doctoral or post-doctoral research.
Subject: Law and Constitutional Studies, Economic, Sociology, International Relations.
Duration: Maximum three years (two years for Post-graduate, three years for doctoral, one year for Post-doctoral research).
Eligibility: For Post-graduate courses: First class Bachelor’s degree with at least two years research or teaching experience after obtaining Master’s degree or an M.Phil. degree, a Ph.D. in the subject and engaged in research/teaching.
Age: 25 years for post-graduate courses(on the 1st October). Relaxation in age up to three years for SC/ST candidates.

Value: US$8,400 per annum (for maintenance, accommodation/US$1,200per annum (contingency allowance which includes cost of local travel, incidental expenditure, books, etc); airfares, tuition and College and University fees.
N.B.: Candidates are not allowed to seek employment during the course of their study/research without the permission of the Government of India.

Dr. P.N. Berry Scholarship
Subject: Medicine, Nursing and Physiotherapy.
Duration: One year, extended for a further period of six months in exceptional cases.
Eligibility: Candidates should be ordinarily residents in Indian for at least 5 year preceding the 1st October. The scholarship are tenable at a medical institution in the U.K.
Age: 45 year for doctors (on the 1st October). 40 years for nurses and physiotherapists (on the 1st October).

Value: Air fares, allowances, book grant, cost of preparation of thesis, cost of travel within UK in connection with training or studies. Registration fee payable to the General Medical Council, Nursing Council and Medical Protection fee. Normally a tuition fee for any course or studies is not payable our of the Trust Fund but the Trustees may consider providing some financial assistance toward this fee.

Eligibility: The fellowship is open to practicing creative artists who have completed their formal education and professional training and who have already shown their work in India. The applicant must be able to justify the importance of this exposure for their creative development and be able to provide a reference from UK. He/She must have secured a provisional placement to study or work in UK before applying. Recipients of a part award from another source can also be considered.

Science Fellowship
Level: Post-doctoral.

Commonwealth Foundation Fellowships in Arts and Crafts
Level: To work with established artists and craft persons.
Subject: Arts and Crafts.

Duration: Maximum of nine months.
Eligibility: Artists and craft persons.
Age: 35 years.
Value: £ 6,000 to include air fares, accommodation, subsistence and the cost of mounting an exhibition of the resulting works.

Countess of Munster Musical Trust Grants
Level: Under-graduate, Post-graduate, Research.
Subject: Music.
No. of Grants: 100 (offered worldwide).
Duration: One year-, renewable.
Eligibility: Applications only accepted from individuals (not groups or organisations).Applicant must be prepared-to travel to London for audition, if called, at their own expense; no tape recordings accepted in lieu.
Age: 27 years (30 years in case of singers) on 1st September. Value: A grant towards traveling expenses only in exceptional cases.

Level: Post-graduate, M.Phil. .
Subject: Business Management and related subjects.
Duration: Maximum of two years.
Eligibility: Candidates should be first-class graduates and
residents of India for one year preceding the date of application. The scholarships are tenable to London School of Economics and Political Science. Manchester Business School and Templeton College, Oxford (for MBA). It is essential that candidates must have secured admission to one of the institutions.
Age: 27 years.
Value: Rs. 60,000 per annum.

Eligibility: Applicants should have a first class degree or an equivalent diploma& of recognised Indian university. They should have an offer of admission or at least have applied for admission to university in the UK. Government and quasi-Government officers with a good academic record.

Oxford and Cambridge Society of India Scholarships
Level: Second Bachelor's Research.
Subject: Unrestricted.
No. of Scholarships: 4 (for India).
Duration: Two Years.
Eligibility: Applicants with a good academic record and an offer of admission to one of the colleges of Oxford or Cambridge. This should be their first opportunity to study abroad.
Age: 26 years (on 1st October).
Value: Rs. 50,000 to be paid into the scholar-elect's bank account in India once he or she has joined Oxford or Cambridge.

The Candidates have to submit the following with the application form:.
(i) Attested copies of degrees.
(ii) Certificates-of age.
(iii)Two passport size photographs.
(iv) An essay in 400-600. words (preferably typed) indicating the candidate's academic and extracurricular interests and achievements, and the reasons for pursuing a course of study at Cambridge or Oxford.
(v) Copy of letter of admission.
The scholarships are awarded on the basis of the candidate's attainments, potential for excellence and the relevance of the course of study. Candidates short-listed will be invited for interview to be held in Delhi in the first week of June.

Rhodes Scholarships
Level: Under-graduate, Post-graduate; Research. Subject: Unrestricted.
No. of Scholarships: 4 (for India).
Duration: Two years, extendable to three years.
Eligibility: Applicants must hold a first class honours degree in the Humanities, Pure or Applied Sciences, Law or Medicine, and apart from academic distinction, indicate continuing, active interest and some achievement in extra-curricular activities, such as sports, theatre and community work.
The scholarships are tenable at the University of Oxford.
Applicants must be unmarried.
Age: 19-25 years (on 1st October).
Value: 6,000 per annum plus approved fees and air fares.

World Bank Graduate Scholarship Programme
Level: Post-graduate, Research. .
Subject: Development related Social Sciences.
No. of Scholarships: Unspecified.
Duration: One to two years.
Eligibility: Candidates should hold a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent in the Social Sciences, Law, Business or Public Administration or any other development related technical discipline. They must have at least two years recent employment in economic development activities and intend to pursue a career in a field related to development of the Third World. Candidates must have offer of admission from a university renowned for development research and teaching.
