Targeted Gene Alterations Using TFOs and Chimeraplasty
In the past, several approaches have been used for targeted gene alterations, both for the study of gene function and also for production of improved transgenic animals and plants. Besides, the approach of transposon mutagenesis, extensively used for disrupting gene function with a view to assign function to a DNA sequence, there are approaches like the use of TFOs and Chimeraplasty (use of RNA-DNA hybrids) for gene alterations. These two approaches will be discussed in this section.
