Recombination data using PCR.

PCR can be used for DNA amplification, utilizing individual sperms, which are the products of meiosis and recombination. Therefore, by studying PCR products from a large number of individual sp rms (pollens in case of plants), one can calculate the proportion of sperms that are recombinant for linked markers. This allows construction of genetic maps at a resolution which is not possible with pedigree analysis. Microdissected chromosome bands are also used for PCR to allow physical location of genetic lesions.
