DNA fingerprinting using PCR

We will duscuss briefly the use of DNA fingerprinting in forensic medicine for identification of criminals and disputed parentage. Some well characterized sequences of microsatellites are being used for designing primers, so that DNA fingerprinting may be achieved through PCR. PCR allows amplification of DNA from individual hairs, stains of blood or seminal fluid having partially degraded DNA, which could not be used earlier for characterization of individuals.
