Whole genome sequence data

During the last three decades (1970-2003), sequences of complete genomes have become available in ~600 viruses and viroids, >200 naturally occurring plasmids, 185 organelles, >80 eubacteria, 15 archaea, two yeasts (fungi), two animals and one plant. The details of the progress made for animal gnomes will be discussed in and that for plant genomes
