Applications of Mass Spectrometry for Genome/Proteome Analysis
Mass spectrometry in the form of MALDI-TOF has been extensively used for the analysis of nucleic acids, proteins and peptides, although initially the techniques was more often used for the study of peptides. For biotechnology application, we need to study both nucleic acids and proteins and therefore use of MS for the study of both nucleic acids and proteins will be briefly discussed.
