PCR based molecular markers
PCR based molecular markers offer the potential reduce time, effort and expense required for molecular marker technology.
They are based on the use of a pair o primers (forward and reverse primers), which may be designed either on the basis of arbitrary sequences or on the basis of specific sequences flanking the DNA segment that needs to be amplified.
Sometimes the same arbitrary or specific sequence may be used for both forward and reverse primers, so that the PCR based markers may be classified into two types,
one using a single primer, and the other using a pair of primers.
