Ink-jet printing technology.
Oligonucleotide micro arrays can also be produced by ink-jet printing technology, which involves direct delivery of phosphoramidites, rather than the use of photolithographic masks.
Following steps are involved:
(i) glass surface is coated with a light sensitive hydrophobic material,
(ii) synthetic areas are prepared by photolithographic etching,
(iii) phosphoramidites are delivered at specific hydrophilic wells created as above, and deblocking agent is used to oxidize and complete one round of coupling.
