BAC Libraries and Assembly of BACs into Contigs
In recent years, genome wide BAC libraries have been prepared and BACs clones have been assembled into contigs (contiguous clones) using overlapping segments (For BAC vector consult previous chapter).
Fingerprints of these BACs have been used for this purpose and software like FPC (fingerprint contigs) have been used for assembly of contigs. These BAC contigs have also been utilized for the preparation of genome-wide physical maps.
