The objectives of this consortium are the following:

BCIL has also signed memoranda of undertaking (MOUs) with several industries to help them in a variety of ways

The BCIL also helps in locating sources for technology in India and abroad and help in the transfer of technology.

They also provide consultancy services, information services and arrange training programmes in the area of biotechnology.

that the BCIL is supposed to provide.

BCIL handled a number of prestigious projects aimed at commercialization of biotechnology products.

This involved a study of the feasibility of commercializing tissue culture facility leading to the establishment of 'Floriculture Unit' in Bangalore, 'Horticulture Parks' for the Maharashtra, and helping a small scale entrepreneurs (SSE) to establish a tissue culture laboratory at Gurgaon.

A feasibility study of 'Cut Flower Project' in Nepal, Pakistan and SriLanka was also conducted by BCIL on the request of the Council of SAARC.

BCIL has also prepared a detailed report for the Kerala Government, which proposed to develop a 'Biotechnology Park' in the state.

The facility, also described as 'Biotech Application Centre (BAC)' , will be a nodal agency and a facilitator to biotech industries in the state.

Such Biotech Parks may be established in other states also with the help from BCIL.

Unfortunately, the growth of biotech industries is restricted to the south and the western regions of India.

This is due to the interest taken by the State Governments there. Similar efforts are needed in other States and BCIL can certainly help.
