Bioinformatics Center, Kyoto University

This center provides its services through Genome Net, which was established in September 1991 under the Human Genome project of the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture. It is a Japanese network of databases and computational services for genomics and other related areas of research (cell and molecular biology)

The database available in the Genome Net include DDBJ (DNA Database of Japan) and KEGG (Kyoto Encyclopaedia of Genes and Genome). Path DB helps in annotating sequences and allows one to find out all possible molecular pathways using a query sequence

The services provided by Genome Net include the following: (i) DBGET/Link DB is an Integrated Database Retrieval System for all Genome Net databases including a number of molecular biology databases. (ii) Genome Net Sequence Interpretation Tools (SIT) makes available new tools developed by Japanese Bioinformatics Community and also provides BLAST and FASTA sequences search services
