C - Endodermis D - Pericycle
E - Pholem F - Conjunctive Tissue
G - Meta - Xylem H - Proto Xylem

The pericycle is single layered and besides giving rise to lateral roots also take part in secondary growth. The vascular bundles are arranged radially. The number of xylem or phloem bundles may vary from 2-6 and rarely to 8. The xylem is exarch. The xylem and phloem bundles are separated from each other by thin walled parenchymatous cells called conjunctive parenchyma which later becomes meristematic to form vascular tissue. Pith is either, very much reduced or absent.
