Bud
It is a very young or an underdeveloped shoot having a compressed axis in which the internodes are condensed and leaves are crowded together to form a compact structure.
Kinds of Bud
1. Depending upon position.
(a) Terminal. These are present at the tips of main stem and its branches. They account for increase in length of plant.
(b) Lateral. All buds other than terminal are called lateral buds. They can be axillary (growing in leaf axil).
