There are many kinds of aquatic ecosystems that differ with regard to all abiotic factors. They range from open ocean to small puddles having conditions of salinity, depth and temperature fluctuations. They are of four types:
Marine (oceans), fresh water (lakes + ponds), stream and rivers and marshes.
