Matter is made up of molecules and atoms. It can exist in solid, liquid or gas. The state of any form of matter can be usually changed but under ordinary conditions, matter can neither be created nor destroyed.
Energy is the capacity to do work. Light, heat and sound emitted by any object constitute energy. We can feel heat. All happenings and activities-falling of rain, beating of hear, fight or birds, running of cart-involve energy.
Matter and energy are inter-convertible. Matter can be changed into energy as during fission or fusion of atomic nuclei occurring in nuclear reactor, sun or nuclear bomb. The reverse is also possible. Thus the two exist in integrated form.
The rich diversity and life that we see on our planet is based on two things (a)Recycling of Materials; (b) Flow of engergy.
