Academy of Animation Art and Technology

The Academy of animation Art and Technology (AAAT) provides advanced courses in classical animation. The AAAT’s provides one-year program which lays emphasis on the art and craft of animation with a com prehensive curriculum.

It has a well equipped studio with latest tools and technologies where students can learn the cornerstones of animation techniques. AAAT nurtures students with skills required in every professional field such as story boarding, layout, design, animation, production and Computer-generated animation.

According to one of its faculty members, 'The Academy's teaching methodology is designed to nurture the aptitude and creative virtuosity of each individual. To enable large number of talented students to enroll, the AAAT also offers a financial aid in the form of heavy subsidization of its courses. By the end of the year, one emerges with a reel displaying original production and the ability to communicate creatively in a charged studio environment". Recently, AAAT has launched its production house 'Metaphor Studios' in Kolkata. Metaphor also caters to the students passing out from the AAAT after the completion of a full time course.

AAAT offers following courses:
AAAT trains students in both 2D and 3D medium. Besides emphasis on a variety of high-end industry hardware and software tools, the programmes also focus on art, animation and technical skills.

1-year Diploma in Classical Animation (DCA): This course provides knowledge of 2D Classical Animation with an orientation of digital animation. Certificate in Entry level Animation (CELA): This is an introductory course on animation where you begin with the basics and get an in-depth knowledge of classical animation technologies. Here one gets training to be an in-betweener, clean-up artist or an assistant animator. This course provides platform to those who are aspiring to build their career in digital animation (2D/30).

Fundamentals of Animation (FA) (3 months, 3 days in a week): This course enables you to know about the concept of Flip art, Animation Technologies and various activities in a production scenario involved in the creation of 2D animation films.

This course is designed for individuals who want to explore the subject before moving on to a career in Animation. Creative/Media professionals, who want to upgrade their skills in animation could also go for this course. Certificate in Digital Animation (CDA) (6 months,3 days in a week) It teaches you to digitize the works of 2D animation artist; primarily focusing on the computer based workflow of the animation. During this course, training is imparted on Flash Animation, Toon Boom Studio and After Effects.

A basic knowledge of computers with Photoshop and Illustrator would be an additional help. First, students are given training in fundamentals of Classical Animation before moving on to digital work. It prepares them to understand and learn both the art and craft of animation.

Non-linear editing (1-month, 3 days in a week): Here, students are trained in Final Cut Pro application (it is the latest application for offline editing, editing video footages, adding effects, colour correction, A/B roll editing etc). This application is a primary demand of broadcast industry.

ANTS
Animation Training School (ANTS) offers career-oriented programmes with placements in leading animation houses in India and abroad. Students are given opportunity to learn right from the basics of drawing and sketching. After that, students are taught how to create complex 2D and 3D graphics, using special softwares.

ANTS has its animation studio, named AAL where students do live projects and get hand-on training. Portfolio management is also covered under course curriculum.
