Embryo Transfer and Invitro Fertilization Introduction
The term in vitro means "in glass". In recent years, in vitro fertilization (IVF) technology in which the fertilization of egg by sperm takes place at artificially maintained optimum conditions, has revolutionized the field of animal biotechnology, by the production of more and more animals than that of normal course. IVF was first successfully tried in humans over 25 years ago and this fame goes to "Louise Joy Brown", the first test tube baby born in 1978. Since her birth, thousands of children have been born with the aid of this technology.
IVF is the procedure designed to enhance the likelihood of conception in couples for whom other fertility therapies have been unsuccessful or are not possible.
